Youth Events during Christmas Break
WOW! Did God do some wonderful and amazing things over the last week of 2012 and moving right into the first few days of 2013! Here are some of the things that went on in the life of your students at both BreakThru and Passion 2013! :
BreakThru:
FUMC Clinton Youth got another opportunity to hear from Adam Robinson, now a Senior Pastor at Double Oak Community Church in Birmingham, AL! He, alongside the BreakThru team, delivered the message that we are ALL "Beautiful Messes". God doesn't require perfection for us to be in relationship with Him. Rather, he takes messy people and makes them beautiful! "His power is made perfect in our weaknesses!! (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV).
Not only did we hear an incredible message of truth, but we had fun (playing an insane amount of "Indoor Octoball" due to the rain) and grew closer as a church group. God worked and moved in our students lives, and even prompted a few to respond to His call to be in relationship with Him! Whether it was a new commitment, re-commitment, or just simply committing to grow even closer to Him over the next year!
Passion 2013:
Can we say enough about Passion?! Together with 60,000 (no, that's not a typo, SIXTY THOUSAND!!!) other HS Seniors and College students, FUMC Clinton Seniors and College Students got an opportunity to worship with some of the top Christian artists (Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill, Kari Job, Christy Nockels, Lacrae, David Crowder, and more!), hear from the world's most famous speakers (Louie Giglio, Beth Moore, John Piper, Frances Chan, and more!) and join together to do "Immeasurably More" than we can ever imagine (which was one of the main themes of the week).
That immeasurably more consisted of shining a light on human trafficking and slavery across the world. Together, your students were a part of raising $3.17 MILLION DOLLARS!!! (remember, these are poor college students...what a sacrifice!!) that went to help support 20+ organizations that are committed to the cause of ending sex trafficking, child forced labor and military participation, and other crazy unspeakable injustices around the world. Currently, there are over 27 million slaves in the world, and those are just the ones we were able to count. Thank God for the willing students at FUMC Clinton and Passion 2013 who took the pledge to be "in it to end it".
