He Ascended Into Heaven – Sharonda Medina

“Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy.” Luke 24:50-52 NLT

“When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” Mark 16:19 NLT

“So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:6-11 NLT

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3 NLT

He Ascended into Heaven – Tommy Artmann

Acts 1:6-11

After Jesus said this, as they were watching, He was lifted up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. Acts 1:9

What the ascension means for Jesus:
1) Jesus resumes the intimacy He had with the Father before coming to earth.

Now, Father, bring Me into the glory We shared before the world began. (John 17:5)
2) Jesus exercises His full power and authority as God.

The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a

footstool under your feet.” (Psalm 110:1)
3) Jesus has become the intercessor for humanity.

Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the

place of honor at God’s right hand, interceding for us. (Romans 8:34)

What the ascension means for Followers of Jesus:
1) We experience a personal walk with God through the Holy Spirit.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Cor. 13:14)
2) We are empowered to overcome evil and suffering.

You belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in

you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. (1 John 4:4)

3) As Jesus intercedes for us, we are called to intercede for the world.

We are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to

God!” ( 2 Cor. 5:20)

Who You’re Becoming – Josh Gray

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each otherand forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit – Sharonda Medina

“For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.” Romans 1:11-12 NLT

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT

God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.  A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. (1 Corinthians 12:6,7)

  1. God Gives Everyone a Spiritual Gift.

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. (1Corinthians 12:7)

  1. God Gives a Variety of Gifts.

To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit  gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing… (1 Corinthians 12:8,9)

  1. God Gives Us the Gift that Best Fits Our Life.

It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. (1 Corinthians 12:11)

  1. God Gives Gifts So the Church Will Be Healthy and Full of Love.

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. (Ephesians 4:16)

The Great Commission – Sharonda Medina

“Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 NLT
