Local and Global Outreach

Mission outreach at FUMC has grown to become a vital ministry; we now support over twenty-four missions and humanitarian programs.  There are numerous opportunities for involvement.  Please click on the areas below to learn more.

 

LOCALINTERNATIONAL
Bethlehem Center  - serves low-income families and individuals in the Jackson area through affordable quality childcare, a free income tax assistance program, a counseling center, and community development initiatives.Beise Missionary Support  - Based in Cape Girardeau, MO, Jim works as Regional Consultant for the Mission Society, to coach and provide strategies for new missionaries.
Boy Scouts - This troop is supported by FUMC Clinton. The mission of the Boy Scouts is to prepare young men to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and LawBrian Standley Mission Support - Brian works with MEDAIR in the South Sudan providing water wells and latrine building.
Center for Violence Prevention, Pearl - A full-service organization to meet the needs of victims of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault, including emergency shelter, therapy, case management, and safety planning for clients, in addition to providing services to offenders to try and break the cycle of domestic violence.C2BU Lauren Edens Mission Support - A rescue mission to young girls trapped in sex slavery and prostitution in Tanzania.
Clinton Community Christian Corporation - a  thrift shop and food bank for people in need in the Clinton area.Carlson Missionary Support - Greg Carlson, based in Greenwood, IN, works with the One Mission Society in organizing church building and medical mission trips.
Contact the Crisis Line - An interfaith ministry to troubled callers, based in Jackson.Christian World Missions - A group based in Starkville, MS, which supports church building in Africa, an orphanage in India, evangelism and VBS for over 5000 kids.
Gateway Rescue Mission - a homeless shelter located in downtown Jackson that provides over 400 free meals per day.Costa Rica - Since 1999, FUMC has partnered with Pastor Carlos Gonzalez and the congregation of Fuente de Gracia Iglesia Metodista in providing funds and labor for church building and Vacation Bible School for the people of Liberia, a town in the Guanacaste region.
The Good Shepherd Center - provides low-cost daycare for children, also provides medical care and education services.Mellon Missionary Support - Since 2009, Alli and the Hard Places Community have worked to rescue and care for children caught in the child sex trade in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia.
Kairos Prison Ministry- Bringing Christ’s love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families, and those who work with them.Russian Initiative Advance - for church building and outreach to children and the mentally ill.
Methodist Children’s home- An orphanage and foster home program which has provided care to Mississippi's most vulnerable children and families for more than a century.Share the Blessings- Humanitarian help for the handicapped, orphaned, and other underprivileged Belarussian children.
Mississippi Conference - Part of the West Jackson district, these apportionments are used for missions locally and internationally.Simon Ernyi - African missions for evangelism and poverty assistance.
Stewpot/Billy Brumfield House - a homeless shelter and meal resource located in downtown Jackson.Stop Hunger Now - A meal-packing program for international hunger. FUMC has bought, packed, and shipped over 250,000 meals for hungry children around the world.
United Methodist Hour - a statewide television ministry
